Inga Vondenhof

Junior researcher

Hey!

Having completed my Bachelor's and Research Master in Communication Science at the UvA, I am now proud to call myself a member of team AWeSoMe.

My research interests are focused around entertainment, digital media, and computational methods. I'm interested in a range of topics, but specifically how social media shapes us & our surroundings.

Konrad Mikalauskas

Junior researcher

I completed my BSc and (research) MSc in Psychology at the University of Amsterdam and joined Project AWeSoMe as a Junior Researcher in September 2025.

I’m highly interested in using advanced statistical and computational techniques to study the ways that our interactions with social media shape our media landscapes and how they simulatenously change us.

Amber van der Wal

Senior researcher

I joined Project AWeSoMe in 2021 and, as of 1 January 2025, I serve as project lead together with Ine Beyens.

My research focuses on how adolescents use and experience social media, with a special focus on how algorithms shape what they see and how that affects their well-being. Across my work, I aim to develop youth-centered insights that provide evidence-based guidance for improving young people’s digital well-being.

Rebecca Godard

Post-doctoral researcher

Google Scholar

I completed my PhD in psychology at the University of British Columbia (Canada) and began a postdoctoral fellowship with Project AWeSoMe in September 2025.

My research investigates associations between social media use and social well-being, including loneliness, sense of connection/belonging, and perceptions of social support.

I am particularly interested in harnessing data donations and advanced statistical methods to understand the complex and dynamic ways users experience and are impacted by social media.

Ine Beyens

Senior researcher

Ine is co-founder of Project AWeSome and serves as project lead together with Amber van der Wal.

Her research focuses on the effects of digital media on the emotional, cognitive, and social development of children and adolescents. Her current work investigates the effects of social media use on adolescents' well-being. In her work, she employs intensive longitudinal data, collected through experience sampling and daily diary methods.
